Gregor Luštek
The limits of my language mean the limits of my world
Freedom, meaning, a sign, a sentence, the world, space, to think, to perceive – these are the concepts the choreographer and dancer Gregor Luštek uses to describe his dance performance that takes its name from the famous Wittgenstein’s statement in Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus: “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world”.
Dancer and choreographer Leja Jurišić explains that “just as Wittgenstein struggled with explaining the working modes of language, Luštek struggles with explaining dance. Wittgenstein attempts to solve his problem by writing the Tractatus, whereas Luštek approaches his problem by developing his own principles of dance”. The goal of Luštek’s performance is not to describe or explain Wittgenstein’s work, but to use it as a tool to describe what dancing means to him, how a dance is born, and what a dance creator does and seeks to achieve while dancing.
