ABOUT SPIDER FESTIVAL

Spider is an international Dance and performance arts festival that celebrates unconventional, radical, and non-normative artistic expressions. It highlights queer, feminist, and transgenerational perspectives, all of which has earned it a reputation as a Festival of Radical Bodies.

What is now a festival began in 2010 as a project initiated by choreographer and dancer Matej Kejžar, who wanted to intertwine dance arts with critical thought. This concept continues to be the main thread of the festival to this day. At Spider, the audiences have the opportunity to see performances by both renowned and emerging artists in the fields of dance, choreography, innovative and hybrid genres, and artistic explorations of contemporary technologies and social systems, as well as participate in thought-provoking discussions. Spider is an open-air festival held in the Plečnik Auditorium in Ljubljana’s Tivoli Park.
