Niño de Elche
Wednesday, 18 June
23.00-00.00
While Niño de Elche was trained as a flamenco singer, he has since moved from the traditional flamenco sphere and ventured into an eccentric, contemporary style, collaborating with artists such as actor Angelica Liddell and flamenco dancer Israel Galván. “I betray my public constantly,” says de Elche, who is also a poet, essayist and broadcaster: “I am immersed in a permanent process of metamorphosis, and as a consequence, my attitudes, my methods and my ideologies are continually reformulated.” De Elche possesses a deep knowledge of flamenco – from the most basic to the truly essential forms –, but (or precisely because of that) he proclaims himself an ‘ex-flamenco’. This is a way of expressing his determination to recognise the different zero zones the art and its topics leave behind, making this an inexhaustible research that is both personal and collective.
For this concert, de Elche joins forces with musician, DJ, producer, and keyboardist Susana Hernández, also known as Ylia.
