Jimmy Barka Experience is a rhythmic tour de force, a trio of two DJs and a drummer. Formed by three veterans of the Slovenian music scene, the group came together when they came up with the idea that they could do something distinct from the usual DJ/musician combo. Thus, their mission became to make a music project that sounds and feels like a band, a trio, rather than “a musician playing along a DJ set”. The outcome is a collage of all sorts of genres, from funk, breaks, afro, to Balkansploitation and rock music, all of which is put together into a kind of exhilarating, bumpy but well-knit-together ride from Peru to Baku.

Jimmy Barka Experience has released several bits of music: a double single, Dunja (2021); the Three Piece Puzzle EP (2019); a mini album, Stolen Boats (2016); and the Old News mixtape (2014). They’ve performed at various festivals, such as the Cully Jazz Festival (2017), Druga Godba (2011, 2014, 2022), and Pohoda (2014). They’ve shared the stage with artists like Gramatik, Parov Stelar, and Ursula Rucker. Their new record, Juqu'ici tout va bien, was released in March 2024.
